Présentation: D'origine russe, l'artiste arrive à Paris en 1909. Il s'installe en 1928, avec son épouse peintre dans sa "folie d'Assas" jusqu'à sa mort en 1967. Zadkine fut une figure célèbre du Montparnasse des années 20, ami de Guillaume Apollinaire, Blaise Cendrars, Max Jacob, Braque, Chagall, Kessel, Modignliani, Soutine. Ce musée est ouvert au public en 1982. |
Architecture: Maison-atelier d'artiste de caractère avec jardin.
Principaux atouts: Le musée présente une centaine d'oeuvres réparties chronoliquement en cinq salles ; toutes les périodes de l'artiste ici, du primitivisme au cubisme, à l'art antique, mythologique et abstrait. Oeuvres en bois, comme "Prométhée" (1955), les "Torses de Pomone" (1960), d'Ephèbe" (1920), d'"Hermaphrodite" (1925), en bronze comme "Formes et Lumières" (1923), "Femme à l'éventail" (1923), la "naissance de Vénus" (1950) ou les "Ménades" (1929), en pierre, "Tête héroïque" (1908) et la "Sainte Famille" (1912). L'Atelier accueille des artistes contemporains.
